Job Description

Our boutique firm located in the heart of Bourke Street is currently looking for an experienced legal secretary to work part time with an immediate start. Initially starting at two days a week, the prospective candidate will be available for three full days each week on a flexible working schedule.Our firm specialises in Migration, Family and Commercial law and occasionally takes on matters in other areas such as Wills and Estates, Personal Injury and general law practice. Applicants must have completed Year 12 to be considered for this position.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year experience in a legal office, however standout candidates without this will also be considered. Experience with trust receipting and accounting with a background in billing and finance is essential to being successful in this role. A willingness to complete general admin duties such as filing, answering calls and daily coffee runs is necessary to flourish in our work space. Our staff are under 30 and as our clients and staff come from all walks of life, we value an engaging personality over pretension.This role is not intended to lead into a lawyer position, so law students and graduates wanting to progress into such a role should not apply.Applicants must have permanent residency or citizenship.The right candidate will be able to:Utilise an impeccable level of attention to detail and accuracy, with a minimum typing speed of 75 wpm.Work autonomously and take initiative on tasks that need to be completedPrepare court documents and Briefs to CounselAssist in document indexing and file management by opening and closing mattersMaintain a list of what needs to be actionedManage diaries for court dates and meetingsTake detailed messages and ensure they are issued to the relevant personComplete general administrative duties or tasks as requiredUse Word and Excel fluentlyInteract with clients as confidently as they do with completing their own workHighly regarded but not essentialLanguage other than EnglishWhat we offer:Regular staff lunchesA relaxed yet purpose driven environmentAbility to assist both fee-paying and pro bono clientsAlong with providing your resume and tailored cover letter, please answer the following questions in 100 words or less:What do you do in your spare timeWhat is the most difficult decision you have had to face in your professional careerWhat is your highest level of education and when did you achieve itTell us something unique about yourselfThe application form will include these questions:
