APS6 Financial Accountant Long term contract or Permanent transfer considered South side location, close to shops and restaurants Work in a high-performing finance team The Organisation: This Government entity plays a pivotal role in furthering national priorities through their analysis, advice and programs. They have a high performing workplace culture and are considered a preferred employer. The Opportunity: This is a long-term contract opportunity working as part of a professional and friendly team, where there is a good opportunity for a permanent appointment. This is an opportunity to working with a high performing CFO and team to further develop a career in Government. Whilst those with experience in financial accounting in a Commonwealth Government Agency will be highly regarded, high performers outside the Public Service will be considered, particularly those who have worked in large commercial organisations. This also presents as a potential s.26 transfer for a strong performer already in the APS. The Role: Key responsibilities include: Assist with the preparation of Annual Financial Statements including processing of end of year journals and development of notes for audited financial statements Responsible for the preparation and checking monthly signoff of balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all balance sheet entries are correct and within accounting requirements General ledger maintenance and processing journals Support the ongoing development and maintenance of an appropriate trust accounting regime in accordance with AASB and Financial Reporting Rules Updating financial data into CBMS Other duties as required The Person: You are a degree qualified Accountant who has already completed your CA/CPA or have strong progression towards. Experience with Government accounting frameworks will be well regarded however high performers performers who have strong technical accounting skills within a large commercial organisation will be considered.
